General FAQ's

How did Chef Jay start?

After cooking for area Las Vegas hotels, I bought a little muffin shop and eventually started providing local health clubs with healthy style bakery goods. One item was a health bar made of oats, raisins and honey. Soon I started getting calls from people outside the Las Vegas area who wanted me to ship them my "delicious bars". Since then I have devoted my life to producing the best tasting, healthiest bars available. I still make them myself (with a lot of help from my team members) in the heart of Las Vegas, although I have since moved out of that muffin shop and into that dream kitchen and facility that I have always wanted. I hope you enjoy eating them as much as I enjoy making them.

How many cookies / bars / brownies are in a box?

There are 12 bars and brownies per box. The Cookies have 12 packages of 2 cookies each per box.

Are your products safe for vegetarians?

Yes, depending how strict of a vegetarian you are. We do use milk protein and of course butter and eggs in our cookies.

Where can we purchase your products in our area?

Do a search online by typing in TRIOPLEX. It will give you different sites that sell our products. All Vitamin Shoppes, some GNC’s, Bally’s, Nutrition Express, most gyms and Health and Fitness stores, sell our products.

Why are hydrogenated oils listed in your ingredients on your products?

The hydrogenated oils are in the chocolate chips. The amount is very slight, but we must list all ingredients on our labels.

Why should we purchase your products from your web site instead of another one that is cheaper?

We do not stock pile our products but make them fresh when we have orders. Your order will be filled with the freshest product possible.

Peanut Butter Used in These Products May Be Contaminated with Salmonella

Las Vegas, Nev. (February 3, 2009) – Chef Jay’s Food Products is expanding products to the voluntary recall of some of its branded food products that contain peanut butter because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The recalled products contain peanut butter manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA), who previously voluntarily recalled certain lots of its peanut butter and peanut butter paste because these products could be contaminated with Salmonella.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. For more information on Salmonella, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Web site at http://www.cdc.gov/ or call 800-CDC-INFO (800-232-4636).

These products were sold on the Internet, nutrition/health food stores and gyms throughout the United States and Europe. No other Chef Jay’s products or flavors are included in this recall.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are urged to destroy them immediately but may retain the package with the “Best By” dates ranging 06/Sept/09 thru 16/Jan/10 in order to receive replacement product.
